Miniature Shar Peis, or the Chinese Shar Peis, are known
for being affectionate, and have the nickname Mini Pei.
They are trainable, affectionate, good with children and
other dogs. Their short fur allows for little grooming,
and with the right owner these dogs can be very playful.
The average life expectancy is around 10 years, the
average weight is around 35lbs, and the average height
is around 20in. Fur colors can be tan, white, shades of
brown, gray, and black.
Tips for owners: Mini Peis hate water and are known for
doing anything to avoid it and they need quite a lot of
exercise.
This breed is a purebred Shar-Pei that was selectively bred to express the recessive gene
to give them their small size. They were originally meant for general-purpose farming,
they have since become known as designer/companion dogs. Mini Peis were recognized by the
American Kennel Club as Chinese Shar Peis in 1988.
This breed is prone to amolydosis and skin problems.
